How it works

1.

Tell me about your project

Use the form below. The more context you share — products, market, timeline, aesthetic direction — the better I can tailor my response.

2.

Review and discuss

We’ll take the time to understand what you’re building before anything is proposed or agreed. This is where the right collaboration takes shape.

3.

License and launch

Once terms are agreed, we sign a contract. If you’ve chosen something from the catalog, you receive the files and usage rights. If we’re creating something new, this is where the creative work begins.

Designs ready to license, collections built from scratch, and everything in between.

Whether you arrive with a clear brief or just the beginning of an idea — I'm here to help you shape it into something real.

FAQ

Common Questions

What is licensing and why does it make sense?

Licensing gives you the rights to use a design on your products — for an agreed period, territory, and category — while I retain copyright. All terms are defined before anything is signed, so both sides know exactly what they're committing to.

What exclusivity options are available?

Fully negotiable. Exclusivity can be scoped by product category, territory, industry, or across the board — whatever fits your actual needs. We define the terms together as part of the licensing agreement. Nothing is assumed by default.

I have an idea but don't know where to start. Can you help?

Yes — and this is often where the most interesting work begins. A mood, a reference, a direction, or even just a sense of what you're after is enough to start a conversation. I can be involved from the earliest concept stage through to production-ready files: helping shape the aesthetic direction, developing hero patterns and coordinates, advising on scale and colorway, and adapting as the collection takes shape.

If you've never worked with a surface pattern designer before, that's completely fine. Part of what I do is make the process clear so you know what to expect at each stage. If you'd rather talk through your project before filling in a form, I'm happy to jump on a call. Just send me a message: aline@alinebea.com

Can you develop something specifically for my brand?

Yes. Custom work involves a design fee alongside licensing, and the result is work built entirely around your brand identity — not adapted from a catalog. It suits brands looking for something original, cohesive, and entirely their own.

How does pricing work?

It depends on the scope — the type of license, exclusivity, category, territory, and complexity of the work involved. A single existing design is a very different conversation from a custom collection.

I look at each project individually and put together a proposal that reflects what's actually involved. It takes more of my time than a fixed rate would, but I find it fairer — and it means what you receive is genuinely tailored to your project. Share enough detail in the form below and I'll come back with something concrete.

What if I prefer to buy a design outright?

I consider it on a case-by-case basis. When it's the right fit for the project and for both sides, I'm open to it. For seasonal or evolving collections, licensing tends to make more financial sense — but if outright ownership fits your model better, let's talk about it.

What products can designs be licensed for?

Wallpaper, fabric and apparel, bedding and home textiles, stationery, paper goods, wrapping paper, giftware — and beyond. The list is illustrative. If your category isn't here, reach out anyway. I'm always happy to explore new territories.

Is pattern design all you offer?

It's where everything starts — but collaborations sometimes grow beyond it. For clients I'm already working with, I'm open to extending my involvement into adjacent areas: art direction, product mockups, catalog visuals, or creative consultancy. It depends on the project and the fit.

If you think you might need that kind of support along the way, mention it when you get in touch.

I approach every collaboration as a true partnership. If you want a sounding board, someone to flag an opportunity or think through the next step with you — I'm here for that too. And if you'd rather keep things focused and brief-driven, that works just as well. Either way, you'll have someone genuinely invested in your project doing well.
