Aline Bea X not Perfect Linen – a limited-edition heavy linen collection made to last

Reading time: 5 minutes

There’s a quiet confidence to linen—its natural timelessness, its strength, and its ability to feel both raw and refined. So when Not Perfect Linen, a family-run brand known for their beautifully crafted slow fashion, reached out with an invitation to collaborate, the match felt instinctive—like a return to my creative roots.

As designers, it’s rare to be given the freedom to express our truest style—and even rarer to do so alongside a brand whose values mirror our own: sustainability, kindness, intention, and care. From the very first conversation, this collaboration felt like a shared language—spoken in textures, tones, and trust.

Although this first collection is now sold out, I couldn’t let it pass without honoring what it meant to me—and offering it the space it deserves in this journal. In today’s post, I’m sharing the story behind the collaboration, more about the wonderful team at NPL, and a closer look at the thoughtful details that made this project so meaningful.

So take a seat, grab a cup, and slow down with me for a while—as I tell you the story of a linen collection made to be worn, loved, and passed on.

Timeless Floral Prints on Heavy Linen – A Slow Fashion Celebration

With a nod to vintage styles and classic autumn hues, the Aline Bea x NPL Heavy Linen collection was created to evoke a sense of nostalgia while remaining effortlessly timeless. Designed to bring warmth and color to crisp autumn days and cozy winter gatherings, we wanted the collection to reflect the richness of the season while staying true to the quiet elegance NPL is celebrated for.

Working with heavyweight linen required a different kind of sensitivity. Its texture is deeply woven—full of character, but also a challenge to print on. From the beginning, I knew the patterns needed to do more than simply look good—they had to feel at home on the fabric. The designs needed to be delicate and airy enough to honor the linen’s natural depth, while still adding their own layer of meaning.

These decisions weren’t made in isolation. They were shaped by NPL’s aesthetic and by a deep respect for their loyal community—women who seek ease, softness, and thoughtfulness in what they wear. I wanted the prints to carry that same spirit, even when paired with dark saturated tones like deep burgundy and salamander.

Each floral motif was first hand-painted in ink on paper, then carefully refined using digital techniques to ensure it would translate beautifully to fabric—subtle enough to let the linen breathe, distinct enough to feel special.

With two original prints—Idyllic Burgundy and Night Garden—the collection took shape. One romantic, the other moodier, both designs offered a gentle softness that contrasted beautifully with the fabric’s sturdy weight. And once the NPL team worked their magic, transforming the textiles into their signature garments, the collection truly came to life.

Why This Limited Edition Collection Sold Out Quickly

Launched in October 2024, this was a limited edition by design. Only a small quantity of fabric was printed, and once orders began, it sold out swiftly. And that was it.

There’s something deeply meaningful about that kind of scarcity—not as a marketing strategy, but as an act of care. A quiet respect for the process, the materials, and the people who choose to invest in garments that carry memory, intention, and enduring beauty.

Soon after, moments began to appear online: family dinners, festive gatherings, quiet evenings at home—and just as moving, glimpses of everyday life. People styling their garments in deeply personal ways, wearing them through their daily rhythms and creative rituals. Thanks to NPL’s thoughtful customization options, many pieces were tailored to fit not only different bodies but also different lifestyles—making each one feel distinctly one’s own.

These shared glimpses underscored something simple yet profound: design is only the beginning. It finds its full meaning in the lives it becomes part of.

Special thanks to everyone who graciously allowed me to feature their posts in this blog—your kindness and creativity bring these prints to life in the most beautiful ways. With gratitude to Caitlin, Julia, Sarina, Masako, and all who shared a glimpse of their world.

Thank You for Being Part of It

I couldn’t be more grateful to everyone who supported this collaboration. Whether you brought a piece home, shared a kind word, or simply followed along—your presence meant the world.

And what an honor it was to work with the NPL team. Their warmth, vision, and beautifully human approach to business is both inspiring and moving. This collaboration has been a gift, and I’m so proud of what we created together.

And Then Came Summer

A second collection has already bloomed—and quietly sold out not long after launch. This time, the mood was lighter in palette and feel, designed for sunlit days and breezy fabrics. You can still explore the second chapter of this beautiful collaboration in the blog:
